Levels of instruction

The School offers an international oriented educational program to students in the local and foreign communities of Yemen who desire such an education.

The Educational Stage structure is:
Foundation Stage - Nursery , pres-school, Reception
Primary School - Year 1 through 6
Middle School - Year 7 through 9
High School - Year 10 through 13

Curriculum

The School is providing the Cambridge curriculum that parallel to the curriculum of schools in Britain serving the same year levels.
The school is continues improvement oriented, that keeps providing the latest editions and resources.

Language Programs

The basic language of education at SBS is English. In order to help students who do not have an adequate working knowledge of English, the school will provide an English as a Second Language Program ESL.

Co-curricular and Athletic Program

The school shall offer extra class activities for students. The scoop and variety of extracurricular activities may vary from year to year. Continuity shall be encouraged in the major areas of extra class activity e.g.

Student publications, dramatics, athletics, and the arts.

Grading Program and Testing

The school follows the British System in grading the student in a way that reflect the students’ achievements of subject objectives and outcomes.
The school does not encourage the discrimination of High achieve students and low achieve students. The school believes on students’ different abilities and capabilities. Then Guide the student to be more achieving one.
The school provides test and evaluation based on the teachers’ guide tests and end of chapter assessment. The school will establish and maintain standardized testing ( SATs , IGCSEs, AS, and A levels) at specific year level on an annual basis along with other external instruments when necessary.
Scores are placed in the students’ cumulative record.
Any cost for outside testing will be the responsibility of the parents of the student.

Homework

Meaningful, regularly assigned homework is useful to help students reinforce what they learn in class. Master their skills, and develop individual interests. Homework should never be “ busywork”, but should be a learning activity that purposes of assigning homework are to make the student increasingly responsible for scheduling and completing his/her work independently, and learning to investigate topics of interest without constant supervision.
There are many other learning activities in the life of a student besides homework. School activities, culture interests, family obligations, and personal interests can be equally educational, and teachers should take care not to overload the students.
Homework is not to be used as a form of punishment.

Graduation

Graduation from the SBS means that the student has satisfactory completed the prescribed course of study.
There are four stages of graduation:
Finishing Foundation Stage; Reception Class
Finishing Primary Stage; Year 6
Finishing Pre-Secondary Stage: Year 9
Finishing Secondary stage: Year 12

Recourses

The schools teaches mainly Cambridge’s Publishers Text books that supports the British National Curriculum. Including teaching the IGCSE for Year 10-11.
Along, with Yemen Education Ministry books as Arabic, Quran, Islamic, and Society Study.
